Further proof that Europe is more civilized than we are, in some ways...
QD, you are a teacher. You get what a month and a half off for Summer, a 4 day weekend for Thanksgiving, a week and a half for Christmas, and a week off for Easter. Germans are jealous of teachers!
I hardly think vacation time is an indicator of civility.
What does any of this have to do with anything? People in other countries work less than we do. Big deal. WHile I'd agree with Bobkatt, it may not be an indicator of civility, it may be an indicator of having better priorities. So many people kill themselves everyday at jobs they hate, and take little to no time off, and they're damn miserable. Yay, we rule!
