Ingrid Vandebosch

Supposedly the Belgian model is the new fiancé of NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon. The two met on the set of the horrible movie Taxi with Jimmy Fallon and got engaged in May of this year. According to Sports Illustrated, Jeff and Ingrid told family and friends about the engagement “with a cabernet toast at a croquet party” (Sports Illustrated, July 17, 2006).
The Rainbow Warrior and a Model, something seems wrong there.

Something's wrong with HER, in spite of her fabulous looks. Gordon is a notorious serial adulterer, as witnessed by the nasty details of his last divorce.

Hope she gets a juicy pre-nup.

QD, I just don’t like the Rainbow Warrior. I think there are NASCAR fans and then there are Jeff Gordon fans, all two of them. And looking at this woman I can admit to a bit of jealousy too. After the get split and she gets some of his money maybe she will look me up.

Ditto. I'm not a NASCAR fan - i lost interest in auto racing when I left puberty - but jeff gordon to me is the personification of "smarmy."

I have never met a Gordon fan. LOL!

I'm starting to wonder if they even exist!

QD, I am a NASCAR fan, but I think there are only maybe 2 Jeff Gordon fans. I hate what they are about to do to NASCAR and some of the things they have done so my interest has waned, but I still watch.
Brooke, I think I have more than most anti-Jeff Gordon clothing including a t-shirt with “8” Reasons why I hate Jeff Gordon.

Are you people serious with "Ive never met a Gordon fan" and "I think there are only 2 Gordon fans?" I realize some of this is people trying to be funny, but c'mon. I'm no Gordon fan, but let's face it, whether you like the way he races or not, he gets it done. Here's something that I find interesting, after his divorce, his ex just faded away. No tell all book, no TV expose', no nothing. Ya think NASCAR sent her a big check and asked her to keep her trap shut? Just a thought. PUbs, what do you think about Juan Pablo Montoya coming to NASCAR?

Well anon I have been to NASCAR Busch races so I know there are Gordon fans, but I still think you can be either a Gordon fan or an Earnhardt fan and I think most people are going to go with Earnhardt.
And his ex did just fade away, I thought we would have heard more but I am willing to bet there was a nice payoff to prevent that.
And you can guess I am against Juan in NASCAR just like I am against Toyota and Dannica.

I just knew you were against Juan. And I knew you were against Toyota and Danica too. Just southern, white men in US based vehicles. What will you do if GM merges with Renault...gasp...in France?

Why would you be against "Juan" coming to race in NASCAR? Usually, when foreign-born racers try an American series, they don't fare all that well (except for a few old Formula One guys who raced at Indy, back in the '60s and '70s, when it was still "Indy"), do they? Educate me here.

And what the heck is wrong with 1) a Toyota (last one I bought was built in the US, while the last Dodge I bought was built in Brazil, Mexico, and Canada), or 2) Dannica racing NASCAR? Does anybody still care about that phony "buy American" stuff anymore, when most American cars aren't built here (entirely, anyway) and when most "American" car makers are partially owned and operated by foreign companies?

And Dannica? She's had a lot of trouble keeping an Indy car on the track. NASCAR won't be any easier. Why don't the "good ol' boys" like her? Fear?

Well so you all know, I have looked and my Ford was built in Kentucky. So I am still with the buy American idea, although I would buy a foreign car if I knew it was built here in the US.
And I am against Juan and Dannica racing while South Boston’s own Ward Burton and Kerry Earnhardt still sit without a ride just so that NASCAR can appear more inclusive.

But does NASCAR decide who gets a ride? Don't the owners make those decisions? And if they make those decisions based on whatever criteria, isn't that, like, free market type thinking?

I honestly must be missing something here. Help me understand it.

And back to your original point: I've been talking this over with some of my NASCAR-loving friends, and they all despise Gordon. Loathe him. It's like he's the Yankees or the Cowboys (in these parts, anyway). They just hate the guy. Interesting.

Yes, NASCAR team owners do get to decide, but there has also been a lot of pressure from the NASCAR governing body to include more minorities and women. NASCAR is sort of a one-horse town because it is run mainly by one family.
And I also don’t like Jimmy Johnson, but that is because he is too friendly with Jeff Gordon and races for the same owner too.

No worries: I read that Patrick sign with IRL for another year, as of yesterday.

Yeah Patrick won’t be in NASCAR, but that still doesn’t mean I don’t have problems with NASCAR, including the number of cookie-cutter semi-super speedway tracks that are incredibly boring. I love short-tracks and restrictor plates.

oh no, I didn't scroll down far enough to see this, (again, I'm no longer Anon) As long as Ward and Kerry don't have rides, no one else can have one? We all love Wawd Booton, don't get me wrong, but he's as responsible for not having a ride as anyone. When you refuse to take a ride because the you don't feel the program is strong enough for you, you sit. I think it's great that people like Montoya are coming into the sport. YOu can't say you have the best racing unless you have the best racers, now they're working towards that. Can you imagine Micheal Schumacher in a cup car? Oh my God, that would be awesome! Danica is on her way, now that she's signed with Andretti Green, look for her to pick up her first win. Yes, I said it, she will get her first win. And possible more. I'm all for women, minorities and foreign born drivers in NASCAR. Free your mind Publius. I will agree with the cookie cutter track comment though, there needs to be some more originality in design if they're going to branch out like this. Of course, I'd like to see more road courses too.
