You can’t make this up

It seems that someone did get the memo that illegal immigrants protesting to become Americans while carrying the flags of foreign countries just does not work. So CASA of Maryland, a pro-illegal immigrant organization, ordered up 11,000 U.S. flags for the protests yesterday – made in El Salvador (Washington Post, April 11, 2006).

The illegal immigration problem is not simple to solve. The fact is closing down the border would destroy the U.S. agriculture system. Frankly lower class Americans are lazy and would rather leech off of welfare and disability than work. At least the mexicans are coming over and working 6 days a week doing manual labor that noone else will do. Lower class Americans who complain about there not being any jobs out there are not signing up to pick cotton or tobacco like hispanics are in droves. (I understand the whole Black issue of doing more slave labor, but this isn't about that, and poor white trash isn't signing up to do it either.) Also, hispanics are janitors, cleaning house, working in shipping, construction and so forth. Not only that, they are saving money while doing it and sending it back home to bring over more of their family. I say send our welfare and disability dependant lazy ass working class to Mexico, and see how hard they work to get back. Ok so seriously, the real issue is taxation of businesses and farms who use illegal immigrants. There needs to be a national policy for taxation and/or fines for companies and individiuals who hire illegals. Tax credits could go to compliant companies/individuals (groups that completely take care of the financial burden of a illegal immigrant) and fines and tax increases on non compliance. The companies and individuals should also be required to pay health care and other necessities, so that our government is not burdened by it. The same use of negative/positive reenforcement used to control harmful wastes. When money is involved more people listen. That is in fact why companies and individuals continue to hire illegals. They are looking to save money. Redistributing the financial burden on companies who hire should make it more painfull for those companies/individuals who do not take care of their employees and should vastly limit the amount of illegal hires.
The real problem with illegal immigration is it exposes our rediculous use of government money to support a class of people who refuses to work. We have a lower class workforce that is half retarded from a refusal to get educated, cigarettes, beer, liquor, nascar(haha), crack, 50 cent, and a bunch of other negative reenforcement that keeps them from leaving the house and getting a damn job. And why would you when the govenment will give you free money if you complain loud enough. The social programs created by the great depression have created a vacuum of free money to the lower class that is paying for their damn crack habit. There is no rehabilitation of the workforce programs. At least president Bush is smart enough to see the only way to stem the gap is to invest money into technical schools and Community Colleges. Democrats go write your damn social theory and good ideas on some paper and then go wipe your ass with it, because that's about all the good it will do you. In order for us to stop illegal immigration, we first have to rehabilitate the work force that is already here, and that just isn't going to happen. Not when the worst addiction in the country is govenment money and not crack cocaine. Poor America and pop culture have fused to create an American identity that is either white trash and proud, or gangsta. Good job democrats! Way to promote the ideas and culture that help the working class, and keep the dollar strong. So since it is tax season, I just want to thank the democrats out there who make sure the local crack head can collect his money at the first of the month buy an illegal weapon and trade food for crack in the local traller park. It's too bad FDR didn't wipe his ass with social security and welfare.

I agree to an extent, we do have a serious Welfare problem in the U.S. and one that lets too many not work when they can. But, this does not mean we give-up. This is the issue here, do we as Americans give up and say, White and Black people in this country will not work regardless of the pay and therefore we need Hispanic labor and Hispanic workers because they are somehow prone to manual labor? Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, give a man a welfare check and he will never get a job.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that any of this is O.K. Unfortunately one system is based on the other. To fix the supply side economics of the problemm, The U.S. requires a supply of unskilled labor that is willing to work for less than the national average. Not only that there will be no paid overtime. When welfate and disability pays so well, and you can't get rid of it, how do you fix the problem. Our working class needs a humiliating attitude adjustment. The latest changes in the welfare numbers are also misleading, becuase while fewer people are on welfare, more and more people are claiming disability because of "nerves"or other rediculous reasons and finding doctors to sign off on it. So a local level application would be, John Q. Redneck. John is complaining in his trailer how he can't find a job. He rents his trailer from a local farmer Bob Moneybags. Mr. Moneybags has rental properties, a small gas station and his large dairy. John never finished high school, has a criminal record although it's all misdemeanors, and between time spent in jail for being drunk in public he works construction for whoever will let him do small jobs. John is on disability for nerves and is also on pain medication that he doesn't need. John can't understand why he can't find a good paying job. He wishes he could pay child support, but can't stay out of jail long enough to prove to an employer he is trustworthy. Mr. Moneybags sees the local talent, and you wonder why he would rather deal with some illegal immigrant he doesn't even understand than John who most likely knocked off his store last week out of resentment. This is the side of the problem I deal with on a daily basis. So now that John is a drug addict to satisfy his disability requirements, should we give him more money and hope he pays his child support. What do you think he is going to do with his money? So you tell me, how do we teach this man to fish? His monetary dependance on the government is feeding his drug dependance. How do you break him of his dependance? How do you tell a farmer he must hire unskilled local labor that doesn't want to work? How do you satisfy both needs? There is no easy fix, because so many of this nations problems were designed by the most popular not the most qualified.

I would respond with the most politically incorrect and unpopular view: tough love. If we look at the argument from a “we are a nation of immigrants argument,” well when my family came to this country, all legally, they did not receive welfare or any special treatment and classrooms were not teaching math and science and history in Russian, or Hungarian, or Czech, or Slovak. When my family came here they learned English, they worked at any job they could find, typically in a coal mine or doing some form of manual labor, and they did what they had to to survive and provide for their families. Our government treats people like children, if we force people to go out and fend for themselves they will typically succeed. No, they will not be rich and powerful but our government only offers the right to life, liberty, and happiness not to a Mercedes, a big house, and a huge paycheck.
If you can’t teach a man to fish, stop giving him a fish and he will learn how to on his own, or learn to hunt or grow crops. American became the greatest country on earth not because our government coddled people but because our government once forced people to make it on their own, that is what we lost.
And before anyone thinks to respond, I did say that my family ALL came here legally.

As opposed to native-born Americans (because we know for a fact that ALL the protestors were illegal aliens, right?) protesting while carrying the flags of foreign countries (i.e., the Confederate battle flag). Oh, but wait, that's just "cultural pride" you say? It doesn't mean we want to secede or anything? Well, then, what other differences are there between groups of people protesting with the Confederate battle flag and groups of people protesting with the Mexican flag? Hmmm, let me see...boy, this is a tough one! Little help here?

Ah Crank, that is a great question. I will pose one back to you using your example, when was the last time you saw hundreds of thousands of protesters carrying the Confederate flag marching down the street protesting for secession or even tens of thousands, or even a thousand, or hell, even a hundred? In fact, when was the last time you saw people protesting in this country and waving the flag of a foreign nation? Sure, people march in the St. Patrick’s Day parade with Irish flags or march on Columbus Day with the Italian flag, but those are not protests again the government those are parades similar to the Puerto Rican Day parades in New York and the Cinco de Mayo parades. These people who protested, many of whom were illegal if you watched any of the interviews, were protesting against our government and against our laws. The bill passed by the House makes illegal immigration –illegal. Those who were protesting were protesting against the law. If they were all from Afghanistan and carried the Afghan flag and protesting laws that would continue to make heroin illegal would you still side with them? (reports show that nearly 80% of the opium and poppies grown in the world now comes from Afghanistan)
And crank, for the sake of argument, the Confederate Battle flag was not the flag of the Confederate States of America (which I would make the argument wasn’t even technically a foreign country). The Confederate Battle Flag is merely a symbol like having a college flag; yes it comes with a completely different meaning but it is not the flag of a foreign nation.

Okay, well, you've missed my point like Dick Cheney on a quail hunt. There AREN'T big pro-secession rallies, I never implied there were. The point was when large numbers of WHITE people show up waving the Confederate battle flag, whether at a Klan rally (an "anti government rally") or a NASCAR event or the Fort Worth Stock Show Parade, people do NOT assume they are advocating secession. Yet when BROWN people march and some of them wave the Mexican flag, suddenly froot loops like Michelle Malkin and John Gibson are frothing at the mouth about Aztlan and the Reconquista. And arguing that the Confederate battle flag was not the flag of the CSA is to engage in Clintonian parsing of words; the last two national flags of the Confederacy featured white fields with the battle flag in the canton. And you are right--the Confederate battle flag IS a symbol. And so is the Mexican flag. The only difference is, you are willing to concede the former in its proper context, but not the latter.

Maybe it is a problem in Texas of the Klan marching and waving the Confederate flag, but when was the last time you saw that or saw it in mass? And I have watched NASCAR races and yes there are a some battle flags flying at races, but there are even more #8 and #3 flags flying there, but these two are symbols not national flags.
And the Klan has never been anti-government except maybe back in the 1860s and early 1870s when the federal government took away the rights of all southerners who fought in the Civil War, which was 90% of every white male in the South; they lost the right to vote, hold office, or posses a firearm. And back then they had every right to be anti-government because their rights were taken away by a government intent on revenge. Only 10% of Southerners held slaves but it was that 10% that voted for secession as they controlled the Southern state governments, but it was the 90% who did not own slaves that did the fighting.
And your comment on the Confederate Battle Flag not really being the flag of the Confederacy but still a part of the flag of the Confederate States of America, well was the old Georgia flag anti-government because it has the battle flag on it? Is the state flag of Mississippi anti-government because it has the battle flag? Is the state flag of Alabama ant-government because it uses the bars of the battle flag?
And nice cheap shot on Cheney, come up with that one all on your own?
